Staying at a 5-Star Hotel, with Kids?

This may be the nicest place we’ve ever stayed in, with kids!

I know, I know, “take them everywhere”, and we do! But some places don’t scream “kid-friendly” and we go for the kid’s clubs and the pool slides and having desserts for breakfast instead. (Which we also love!) So when we came across this stunning place, exhibiting groundbreaking contemporary art ranging from paintings and photographs to video art and sculptures, boasting a curated selection of fine books in “The Library” (open 24 hours), serving exquisite cuisines across several dining locations, hosting big names and designer events… well, you just wouldn’t think this world renowned spot would actually be one of the World’s Best Hotels for Families. Which is why we thought we’d check it out!

Honoring Chengdu’s ancient past with a collection of historical buildings and complete with a restored Qing’s dynasty courtyard. Also named after the Daci Temple located nearby, blending modern with legendary, ‘The Temple House’ is truly a unique space. It’s divided into 100 modern guest rooms and 42 luxury residences. We had the pleasure to stay in the Residence 100. The beautiful apartment counts with an array of features, including a fully equipped kitchen with a full-sized fridge, electric stove and oven, washer/dryer, a large living space and work area, a cloud of a king-sized bed (cribs are also provided), and a grand washroom with a beautifully surrounded tub! (We LOVE bath tubs! ) There was even a television within the washroom’s mirror that we could watch from the tub and I’m not gonna lie, we were impressed. We also had a private balcony that stretched across the entire apartment, with our very own glamping tent, where we had our tea and the girls played away. It really made the perfect home in the middle of the Chengdu’s city lights.

So if you’re thinking, “sounds great but, is that it?” The glamping experience also includes private language tutoring for your children, Chinese or English, exclusively designed Panda plushes, a pizza-making class after hand-picking herbs from The Temple House garden and breakfast for the family, which is delish!

The Temple House also hosts events for the children during the weekends and throughout the year, most recently the cutest Easter celebration. And if that’s not enough to tire out your little ones, there’s plenty of things to do around. Including the adjoining shopping mall with everything you need and of course, the indoor heated pool open year-round.

Tucked underneath the ground level resembling the Sichuan hillside, resulting into the most beautiful skylights, is where you’ll find the pool along with saunas, the gym, the Italian Restaurant and much more. We loved roaming the corridors below on our way for a swim. It just didn’t even feel like we were at a hotel anymore. From the stunning exterior to the elegant interior design, The Temple House is most definitely one of the most beautiful places we’ve stayed in yet, and the kids loved it!

We could tell you more about how much we loved every single aspect of The Temple House, but if we had to choose a favorite, it was definitely the glamping experience. Cushioned with pillows and blankets, stocked with card games, coloring books and more… The girls just loved playing in there during the day. And in the evenings, it was the perfect spot for getting cozy, listening to bedtime stories and letting the bustling city fade away in the distance.
