PANDAmonium!!!

Crowne Plaza Panda Garden
April 2019 | Chengdu, China

Aside from their spicy Sichuan cuisine and up-and-coming historical city, Pandas are one of the the top reasons for tourism in Chengdu. The Giant Panda Breeding Base is visited by hundreds daily, and their amazing work has resulted to almost 200 pandas from the original 6 that were rescued and rehabilitated decades ago.

Now, you really want to see the pandas but, where to stay? Chengdu is big, the language barrier even bigger. Not to mention the many locations that can not accommodate foreigners because of certain laws.

Well, no worries! We have just the place that will make you feel at home, the kids will absolutely love, and is ideally right by the Pandas!

Picture this: beautiful views out of your living room… yes, an actual living room. A dining table for 4, past that even more views of the grand lawn out of the master bedroom, and one of the largest washrooms we’ve ever seen in Asia! And yes, we’re talking about a hotel, the Crowne Plaza Panda Garden to be exact.
With 2 bathrooms, a beautiful workspace, views for days (we’re suckers for views), high ceilings, chandeliers and all, you’ll never want to check out.

We came for pandas and pandas we got, EVERYWHERE! You guys, panda bedding, panda slippers, panda coffee mugs, cups, even panda tissue paper! It was Pandamonium!

Provided with shuttle service, within 10 minutes you’re at the number one place in Chengdu, the Giant Panda Breeding Base. There we hiked through the bamboo forest, visited the panda cub nursery, watched the giant black & white pandas roam, as well as the red pandas, zipping in and out of view! It was our second time here, still, just as amazing as the first.

Back at the Crowne, we experienced one of the best Chinese dinners we’ve ever had! An 11-course meal served privately, in your very own space at the Canal Luna Restaurant within the hotel. The restaurant is divided into private dining rooms including a separate sitting area with couches to lounge, a television, as well as the large traditional dining table. We had an array of dishes! From delicious Sichuan-style dumplings to the best versions of every dish you could think of: seafood, vegetables, pork, beef; we had it all!

As if that wasn’t enough, the typical dinner buffet at the Crowne Plaza Panda Garden is just… wow! My favorite was the noodle station, with all of the ingredients you could ever want and made fresh just for you. But that’s the simple stuff. You could also experience a hot-pot experience, where you choose from a variety of skewers and cook it yourself at your table. The variety of stations and cuisines were also overwhelming! Steaks made by order, a huge spread of Korean, Thai, Cantonese, and Western dishes, among others. Oh, and let’s not forget the dessert table. We actually had to stop there first! There was simply something for everyone in the family to love.

Whenever we weren’t enjoying a delicious meal, we were out on the grounds. Running along the great lawn, swimming in the indoor heated pool, having a tea party in the bamboo garden, building sand castles by the poolside beach, enjoying a picnic experience the kids thoroughly loved… We never ran out of fun things to do while staying at the Crowne Plaza Chengdu Panda Garden.
