Cabin in the Woods, with Kids?!

Just like that one movie… a drive down a winding dirt road, passing trails and streams along the way… EXCEPT, that out of the green, deep in the lush forest that divides the busy towns from the warm coast, are the most beautiful cabins we’ve ever seen.

The remote location is not too far from the airport, but once you’re there, nothing else matters. With only 6 precious villas to choose from (fairly distant from each other), it’s pretty much just you and all the nature that surrounds you.

Don’t get us wrong, there is WiFi and cable television, but here, we could live without it. The resort’s layout is like out of a fairytale. Staircases riddled with vines, boardwalks over streams and ponds full of koi fish, walkways that zigzag through the tallest of trees… getting out to explore is simply inevitable here. Oh, and no worries, transport can also be arranged if you decide to venture out onto the island.

The villa is equipped with a coffee & tea station, a filling breakfast is provided practically in bed, as well as a large fridge to fill up for your stay here. Oh, and don’t get us started on the interior of these villas themselves. They are beautifully designed with wooden furniture and lovely vibrant colors that accentuate the space just enough to make it breathtaking. From the front door to the canopy beds, the clawfoot bathtub and even the overhead beams; the amount of intricate details in this magnificent space is unbelievable. The gorgeously stained glass, the silk throw pillows, even the oversized wooden peg lock on the front door… the entire experience is simply seamless.

It’s no wonder why this spot is sought out by honeymooners and wedding photographers. The beauty of this location is just overwhelming.

Waking up to the sounds of birds, monkeys, and the wind rustling through the leaves, exploring the grounds, dips in the pool, watching the sun set over the trees… Our cabin in the woods experience was a beautiful farewell to our time in Penang, Malaysia. The kids enjoyed the time with just us, tucked away in the woods, and we’ll forever cherish the memories we made here, together.
