Cookies for Breakfast!

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotels
April 2019 | Penang, Malaysia

Forget your rules at home because here, the kids are boss! From breakfast to bedtime, everything here is all about the little ones.

Let’s start with check-in, we all know how it is here and we ALL look forward to it! Getting that warm chocolate chip cookie as you walk up to the front desk after a long travel day with the kids, makes you feel like you’ve arrived at the right place.

The DoubleTree in Penang has thought of everything! They have board games across the lobby lounging areas, an easy-to-order-from snack bar (our 5 year-old could do it), a dedicated kids club and a super fun splash pad! I mean, they even have their very own in-house Teddy Bear Museum. Your kids will have so much to do, you’ll probably never see them until check-out.

Breakfast is the morning main event! From 6am to 10:30, you can walk in and out of this splendid buffet offering pretty much anything on the island. Fruit, toast, coffee, sure. But we’re talking pancakes with maple syrup, french toast, waffles, donuts (!), spreads of hams and cheese, salad and noodle bars, so many pastries, oatmeal, porridge, all kinds of cereals, spring rolls, pau, even fried kway teow ( a very delicious noodle dish ). Their omelets are superb, pair them with sausage, ham or any kind of toast… plus, did I mention the kids have their own serving section?!
No more worrying about people bumping into your little ones as they rush around the dining hall, causing spills and tears. The kids breakfast section even had the cutest tableware, that won’t break! Isn’t that refreshing?! Our five-year-old loved being able to serve herself some breakfast goodies within her reach.

We recommend sitting on the terrace by the kids club and splash pad. Our little was so ready to start the day that she would finish her breakfast faster than ever (seriously, she’s never eaten that fast in her life) and by 10am she would be ready to run into the kids club! I promise you guys she begged us to go, not the other way around. She loved the staff there. They were so attentive and ready to play. They had tons of activities ready for the kids, from coloring to arts and crafts, she even had a baking class! This feature really makes a world of a difference when traveling with kids.

After a day full of fun, and relaxation for us, we loved being able to cross over to the beach and watch the sunset. The DoubleTree has an exclusive overpass bridge for guests to explore the coast, and we made sure to use it.

From the spacious family suite, including 2 large rooms (connected by a hallway with it’s very own main entrance), 4 beds total, 2 bathrooms, plenty of sitting areas, closet space and room for a crib and our youngest to crawl around; to all of the children-friendly amenities, staying at the DoubleTree in Penang was like having our own little home away from home. And for those of you like us, traveling with kids, I’m sure you know how great that feels.
